In a televised address this evening the Prime Minister Prayut announced that as of tomorrow, Friday 3rd April, the country will be under curfew from 10pm to 4am until further notice.
In its latest move to contain the spread of coronavirus, the government have taken a step closer to putting Thailand in lockdown with many provincial governors already restricting movement to and from their jurisdictions.
Anyone found breaking the curfew faces a jail term of no more than two years and/or a fine of no more than 40,000 baht.
Exceptions include medical and banking personnel, delivery drivers, night shift workers, individuals heading to or from airports with paperwork to prove their purpose, and officials carrying out duties.
Local curfews and restrictions already announced around the country remain in place.
