New Law Banning Smoking At Home Coming This August

A new law will be introduced in Thailand this August that could see smokers puffing at home in the company of family members facing prosecution.

Director-general of the Department of Women and Family Affairs, Lertpanya Buranabantit, told reporters smoking at home puts others at risk with second-hand smoke.

Under the new law, set to come into force on August 20, those smoking at home will be considered guilty of harming the health of family members.

How the new law will be enforced, or what the penalties for the guilty may be, were unclear at this stage.
