New Zealander Jumps To His Death From Phuket Hotel

A 55-year-old New Zealander has become the latest tourist to fall to their death from a balcony in Thailand after his body was discovered on Thursday morning at a Phuket hotel.

A trash collector found the body, identified as Douglas Wilson, just after 4am behind the Royal Paradise Hotel & Spa in Patong and alerted hotel staff who called emergency services.

When police and rescue volunteers arrived they found the body laid face down in a pool of blood. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene with Thai news reporting he suffered two broken legs and a fractured skull.

Hotel staff told police the deceased checked in alone on Tuesday and was staying on the 20th floor. Officers checked CCTV and seen Mr Wilson return to his room just after 3am on his own.

An inspection of his room revealed nothing regarding the fall.

The body was sent for an autopsy and the relevant authorities informed of the death.
