American Arrested In Phuket

A 21-year-old American has been arrested and charged with theft and overstaying his visa after he was caught on camera stealing expensive brand-name wallets from a shopping mall in Phuket.

Christopher Braman was cuffed at Central Phuket shopping mall in Ratsada after being tracked down by police following a complaint from the manager of a Gucci shop at Central Phuket Floresta shopping mall.

The police complaint accused a foreign man of allegedly stealing three Gucci wallets from the Gucci shop on Wednesday night.

Police examined CCTV footage at the shop and tracked down Braman on Thursday. He was taken to his rented room in Chalong where three wallets priced at 15,500 baht, 13,440 baht, 14,100 baht were found.

The young American was remanded in custody pending a court appearance for theft and staying in the country illegally.
