Overstaying German Wanted For Theft And Forgery In His Homeland Arrested

Police have arrested a German man who overstayed his visa and was found to be wanted in his home country on charges of theft and forgery.

Pol Lt Gen Sompong Chingduang, acting immigration chief, told a press conference on Friday Sascha Arnold Durst, 43, was arrested earlier this week in Phetchabun for overstaying his visa and working illegally.

Once in custody, it came to light Durst was wanted on several theft charges and document forgery in Germany.

Until recently, he’d been running a bar in Chaiyaphum with his Thai wife before closing it down and fleeing to Phetchabun.

He will be remanded until his deportation paperwork is complete and then sent home to face the music… and charges against him.
