Panic Buying At Supermarkets Across Thailand

Shoppers queue with trolleys full of supplies during a panic buying surge in Bangkok over fears surround Covid-19.

The country has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases in recent days raising fears of a lockdown and food shortages.

Foods such as instant noodles, sauces and canned fish have disappeared from the shelves in many supermarkets as many shoppers seek to plan for shortages.

PM Prayut responded to the panic buying by appealing for calm with supermarkets assuring customers there is plenty to refill the shelves and there will be no shortages.
