Hollywood Actress Rosie Perez Claims She Contracted Coronavirus In Bangkok Last December

Hollywood actress Rosie Perez has claimed in an interview she contracted Covid-19 last December flying to Bangkok to film a new TV series for HBO.

Perez, 56, told Uproxx she was diagnosed with the deadly virus in Bangkok while on location filming “The Flight Attendant”.

“I had contracted COVID when we flew to Bangkok. And at that time, they were saying it’s a new respiratory tract infection. It’s a virus that’s going around. We don’t really know what it is and what it does, but it attacks the respiratory system first and then travels to other parts of your body,”

Perez continued, “And I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ It was terrifying. I remember my manager was with me, and I said, ‘Tarik, don’t let me die in Bangkok.’ And he goes, ‘Oh my God, you’re scaring me.’ And the head of the ICU says, ‘You should be scared, sir. This is serious. We’re going to have to put her in a separate room.’ Because it was new. [This] was in December.”

Perez goes on, “I remember the doctor saying to me, ‘The mask that you have on, the mask that I have on, every time you go outside, every time you meet someone wear that mask — not just for you, but to protect them too’.

In the interview, Perez gives no details on which hospital she was treated in, how long she was hospitalised for or any other information to substantiate her claims she caught Covid either flying to or in Thailand.

Perez shot to fame in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing which she followed with White Men Can’t Jump in 1992. Among many honours, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Fearless (1993) as well as three Emmy Awards for her work as a choreographer on In Living Color in the early ’90s.
