An American was arrested by Chonburi Immigration Police earlier this week for overstaying his visa by two years and three months – a whopping 819 days.

The 55-year-old, named as Ranky Yau, which I’m guessing is a poor translation of Randy Yao, came to Thailand on April 6, 2013 and should have left no later than May 6, 2013 when his 30 day visa exemption expired but he told police he fell in love with the country and didn’t want to leave.

He was arrested and taken to the Pattaya police station where he was charged with overstaying 819 days.

Two other foreigners were also recently arrested by Chonburi Immigration and facing deportation for overstaying.

Snakhzoda Rakhimova from Uzbekistan was picked up drunk in the Pratamnak Hill area and cops soon discovered the 35-year-old had overstayed eight months. Russian Maxim Sapes appeared in court on July 28th and fined 3,000 baht for working without a permit and overstaying his visa. He was detained pending deportation.
