Pattaya Police Launch Investigation Into The Death Of Elderly Norwegian
Pattaya police have launched an investigation into the death of a Norwegian man found hanging from a condo building early Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were alerted just after 9am that the body of a foreign man was seen hanging from a 31-storey high building on Soi 5 Beach Rd.
Rescue volunteers were soon on the scene but needed time to recover the body that was hanging down about 4-5 meters as pulling it up was not an option because such a maneuver could interfere with any evidence, forensic or otherwise, needed by a medical examiner and investigators in determining the actual cause of death.
After around three hours, rescuers finally lifted the body on to the roof where it was soon apparent the deceased, identified as 69-year-old Max Holden from Oslo, had many more injuries and wounds than he would have sustained by hanging.
His clothing and limbs were covered in blood caused by several deep cuts on his wrists and possibly neck.
A small hand written note listing several names was found along with a box cutter, flashlight, pencils, a knife, and the same red nylon rope found around the Norwegian’s neck.
Local media report police searched his room on the 23rd floor where they found his passport and other personal belongings with nothing to suggest a disturbance had taken place or any other signs of a robbery or foul play.
The body has been sent for an autopsy and the relevant authorities notified.
The police investigation into the death is ongoing.
