Pickup Crashes Killing 13 Students

Seventeen students from Sisaket were killed when the overcrowded pickup they were riding in smashed into a power pole in the early hours of Sunday morning in Samut Prakan.

Emergency services were called to King Kaew road in Bang Phli district just after 1am where they found an overturned pickup and the bodies of 12 dead students scattered across the street.

Another five were seriously injured and rushed to a local hospital where during the course of the day each one passed away.

Pickup Crashes Killing 13 Students

The group of students had been doing work training that ended with a party that carried on at a local bar. The accident occurred shortly after leaving the venue.

An eyewitness told police the pickup was driving at high speed and lost control before slamming into the power pole.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash and will interview the injured once they have made a full recovery.
