Pickup Plunges 6 Storeys

A pickup driver managed to jump free from his wagon before it crashed through a concrete barrier and plunged 6 storeys to the ground on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at around 11am at the headquarters of the Food and Drug Administration in Bangkok.

The driver told police he’d left the pickup in drive and it started to reverse when he turned on the ignition. He said he only had one leg in the vehicle at the time and he jumped free when it began moving.

A spokesman for the FDA said it was lucky nobody was hurt and the driver wouldn’t be handed a bill for repairs as it was an accident.

He added checks would be made on the concrete barriers to ensure they were strong enough.
