Police Increase Security At US Consulate General In Chiang Mai

Police have increased security at the US Consulate General in Chiang Mai amid escalating tensions with Iran.

Officers have set up camp outside the entrance and are keeping a 24-hour watch on the property amid fears or attacks from protesters.

Last week, the US killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani amidst suspected planned attacks on Americans.

Iran retaliated and on Jan 7 fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at two military bases in Iraq where American troops are stationed.
