Police Spokesman Leads Raids On Late Night Bars

Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri, spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, was out on the tools with his troops last night shutting down bars and clubs operating illegally.

He lead the raid on one bar in Nonthaburi that was still packed at 1.30am which was soon found by officers to be open beyond its permitted operating hours not to mention it was also nailed for selling shisha to customers, some of whom were found to be underage.

Arrests were made and charges dished out to management of “Roof” on Soi Prachachuen before the big boss continued on his mission to send late night party people home sooner than they wanted.

Next up was a knock on the door at After Moon nightclub on Praditmanutham Rd in the Ladprao area of Bangkok where Pol Lt Gen Prawut found a full house and the party in full swing at around 2.30am.

Lights up and music off was the order that was soon followed by get in line and take a pee test for both staff and customers, that included many foreigners.

Details on how many tested positive for drugs were not released by the office of the Police Spokesman or the local police district who joined the team on the bust. They did confirm several people associated with the club were aressted and now face prosecution for operating illegally, selling to underage customers and also supplying shisha.

Yet another weekend of high profile busts on bars and clubs opened late around the city lead by high ranking officers you wouldn’t expect to see out on such operations.
