Polish Tourist Found Dead In Sukhumvit Hotel

A Polish tourist was found dead with a slit throat at a luxury hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 23 late on Friday night.

Hotel staff discovered the body of 42-year-old Marek Jurewic laid in a pool of blood in the bathroom after he failed to check out of his room as arranged.

Police from Thong Lor station who attended said they found a 10cm knife in the bathroom close to the body and that there were no signs of a struggle in the room adding all the mans personal belongings, including cash and credit cards, were still there ruling out robbery.

Mr Jurewic checked into the hotel on Wednesday and when his checkout time passed staff attempted to call and knock the door but recieved no response. A master key was used by the duty manager to gain entry to the room and found the body.

Initial thoughts are the man took his own life but officers said they will continue to investigate saying the will check CCTV from the hotel to see if any other persons entered the room and make further inquiries before coming to any conclusions.

The Polish embassy were informed and the body sent to the Police Hospital for autopsy.
