Prison Breakers Get Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free Cards Revoked

The last three prison inmates who cashed in their get-out of-jail-free cards in Chumphon have been sent back to the pen before they could pass Go.

The trio, whose less-than-daring Thursday escape was caught on video, were recaptured Saturday morning hiding out in the jungle near Huay Kla village in Chumphon’s Sawi district.

Chanatip Permlarp, Pichet Klin-ocha, and Krissada Kaewnuis were caught while heading back into town at 6 a.m. to find some food.

The three were in a group of ten inmates being transported to Lang Suan Court when one spotted that a guard had left the key in the ignition of their prison truck. They drove off with police and security guards trying to block their escape as they crashed through the gates. They actually ran over a fellow inmate while trying to flee.

The pickup was found abandoned in a rubber plantation in of Thung Tako Subdistrict, about 10 kilometres from the courthouse.

In addition to the drug-trafficking charges they were already in the slammer for, the jailbirds now face escape, robbery and contempt charges.
