Red Line Steel Smashes Windscreen

A driver in Bangkok had a lucky escape Monday after a piece of steel and concrete fell from a Red Line station under construction smashing the windscreen of their car.

The accident happened on Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road with the objects falling from Bang Khen Station being built by contractor Italian-Thai Development.

Thai media report a preliminary investigation found the cause to be careless contractors with The State Railway of Thailand set to invite the contractor in for talks on Tuesday to explain why such oversights had happened and if any penalties or fines would be imposed.

This is the second accident in as many months after three construction workers were killed by a following crane being used on the 21.6km long railway from Bang Sue to Rangsit.
