A young girl was killed when she was hit by a speeding car in the early hours of Sunday after she stopped on the expressway to take a selfie.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident on the Bangphun-Bangpain expressway on the outskirts of Bangkok at around 3am Sunday morning.
Laid on the road was 16-year-old Kannikar Sawangmek who pronounced dead at the scene.
Her friends told police they were riding home and Kannikar wanted to stop and take a selfie. As she posed for the picture a BMW car hit her, killing her on the spot.
The driver of the car said he was traveling home and did not see the teenager on the road until it was too late.
Police told reporters no charges will be brought against the driver of the BMW, believing the incident was an unfortunate accident.
