The death of a 51-year-old Swedish man has been ruled as suicide following the discovery of his body in an Ubon hotel on Friday afternoon.
The body, identified as Nord Per Ove by Thai media, was discovered by hotel staff when they entered the second floor room after the man failed to pay for his daily bill and didn’t respond to calls or a knock on the door.
Upon entering with a spare key, staff seen blood on the floor and walls before finding the occupant of the room laid on the bed covered in blood.
When police and rescue volunteers arrived they soon spotted the man had slashed his wrists and arms around his elbows and found a razor blade in the blood splattered bathroom.
There was no signs of a struggle in the room and they soon determined the cause of death as a suicide.
The body was sent to Sappasitthiprasong Hospital for an autopsy and the Swedish embassy in Bangkok notified.
