Taiwanese Man Arrested In Connection To Dead Woman Washed Up In A Suitcase

A Taiwanese man has been arrested in connection with the death of his wife who was found washed ashore in a suitcase in Chonburi on Friday.

Lu Chu Yang, 38, was arrested at his apartment in Si Racha on Sunday following an investigation into the death of a Chinese woman who was found stuffed in a suitcase on Bang Phra beach.

The woman turned out to be his wife, 33-year-old Liew Lili, who police said had been brutally murdered before being bound and tied with her head covered by a plastic bag.

Thai media report the couple ran a business together and the husband had stolen 3 million baht, suggesting this is what lead to her death.

Police had their hands full on Sunday when a woman from Bangladesh tried to jump off a bridge and later took off her clothes and climbed naked over a sacred shrine in Chiang Mai.

The woman keeping the cops on their toes was identified as a 28-year-old teacher from Bangladesh who had been teaching at a private school since April 2019.

On Sunday afternoon police took the woman to Suan Prung Psychiatric Hospital after she threatened to jump off the Nakorn Ping bridge but was stopped by rescue volunteers.

She also tore down a Thai flag, wrapped herself in it before throwing another flag pole into the river.

While at the hospital, she fled while police were trying to check her in and was spotted at various points across the city abusing passersby and giving others the middle finger.

She eventually arrived at Chiang Mai Gate where she stripped off before climbing on a balcony at a sacred shrine.

Local media report the shrine is now undergoing a deep clean as there is concern she may have spread COVID-19. Locals are now concerned about evil spirits at the shrine.

She has since been returned to Suan Prung Psychiatric Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.
