A Thai maid has been handed the death sentence at the High Court in Shah Alam, Malaysia this morning after finding her guilty as charged for trafficking in methamphetamine.

Miss Duangchit Khonthokhonbari, 33, was detained at the arrival hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport in March 2013 carrying meth weighing 2.81kg.

Judicial Commissioner Collin Lawrence Sequerah sentenced her to death after the defence failed to raise reasonable doubts on the charge. The prosecution called nine witnesses during the trial while the defence brought in one witness to testify throughout the trial.
