Massage Workers Warned About Unhappy Endings Plying Their Trade In Qatar

The Department of Employment have issued a warning to Thai massage workers heading to Qatar to ply their trade that many agents are scammers with dozens of women not being paid and stuck in the country.

The dept said they had been alerted to the problem by the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha that agents are using Qatar’s relaxed immigration regulations to lure Thai women to go work in massage shops that offer happy endings.

Many find the high wages, benefits and working conditions they had been promised never materialise and go to the Embassy for help in returning home to Thailand.

Unfortunately, there is nothing the Embassy can do if the woman have signed a contract because local law states that a foreign worker must obtain their employer’s consent before leaving the country.

Mr Anurak Thosrat, acting head of the Labour Ministry’s Department of Employment, said “Massage workers should not be fooled by agents that they will get a high wage working there”.
