Organisers of the Miss World beauty pageant have announced that Thailand will be the host for the 2019 final.

Contestants from 130 countries will descent upon Thailand in October for one month of festivities ahead of the final in November.

Now in its 69th year, Miss World is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants along with Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth.

Details on where the event will be staged have yet to be released, with members of the Miss World organising committee already hearing bids from the likes of Pattaya mayor, Sonthaya Kunplome.

Full details will be released at the official press conference to be held in Bangkok on Monday 18 February.

Attending will be Julia Morley, Chairman and CEO, MWO and reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León. Arriving on Saturday 16 February, they will be joined by all the 2018 Continental Queens who are flying in for the announcement.

Chairman and CEO of The Miss World Organisation (MWO), Julia Morley said: “I am delighted we are going to host the 2019 Miss World Final in Thailand.”

“I know we are going to have the most amazing journey, as the ‘Land of Smiles’ is truly one of the most remarkable and welcoming countries in the world.”

“Spending time here it’s easy to see why Thailand gained its nickname, the people are so friendly, and everyone really does smile or ‘yim’ a lot.”

This is the first time in the history of Miss World that a final has been held in Thailand.
