Thailand Confirms 6 New Coronavirus Cases

The Public Health Ministry today confirmed a further six people are infected with coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Thailand to 25.

The newly detected patients include a Thai couple who just returned from Japan, two taxi drivers who carried Chinese passengers and two Chinese tourists.

One of the new patients with coronavirus is in a critical condition as the elderly man also suffers from tuberculosis.

The rest are recovering well according to the Public Health Ministry who said 8 of the 25 patients have already made a full recovery and been discharged from hospital.

A further 373 patients are under observation.

Thais arrested with fake US Visas

Immigration Police have arrested two Thai nationals at Suvarnabhumi Airport attempting to leave the county with fake US visas.

The suspects, a man and a woman, were taken aside for questioning while checks with the US Embassy were carried out.

Officials received confirmation that no visas had been issued in the two names and the pair were arrested.

They admitted to officers they’d bought the visas for 50,000 baht each from an “agent” hoping to move to the U.S. for a new life.

Both were remanded pending further legal proceedings.

Miss Universe Thailand Favourite Disqualified

Miss Universe Thailand favourite Chayathanus “Cheraim” Saradatta has been disqualified from the beauty pageant by organisers for breaking competition rules.

The organisers of the Miss Universe Thailand pageant held a press conference on Wednesday to announce Cheraim’s removal saying she didn’t follow the rules and regulations detailed in the contract signed by all contestants.

Cheraim’s manager had apparently attended committee meetings gaining inside information and knowledge which is forbidden.

Other contestants in the pageant took to social media last week complaining “others” were getting an unfair advantage and not following the rules of the competition.

First Flight Carrying Tourists Flying Into Phuket Oct 8

The first flight into Thailand carrying tourists in over six months is scheduled to fly into Phuket on October 8 carrying 150 visitors from China.

The news was announced by Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, following the approval of the new Special Tourist Visa by the Cabinet that will allow the return of long-stay visitors for up to 270 days.

An Air Asia flight carrying 150 Chinese tourists is scheduled to arrive on the southern island On October 8.

Mr Pipat said on Oct 25 there will be 126 Chinese tourists from Guangzhou flying into Suvarnabhumi with Thai Smile Airways while on Nov 1 120 tourists from Scandinavian and Schengen countries with land at Suvarnabhumi Airport onboard a Thai Airways flight.

Other inbound passengers arriving for business on private jets have also been approved.
