Tuk Tuk Driver Cleared Of Colluding With Snatch Thief

On Sunday evening police said the tuk tuk driver accused of colluding with bag snatchers caught on camera robbing a tourist was not involved.

Metropolitan Police Bureau acting commander Sanit Mahathaworn told journalists at a press conference held at Phaya Thai Police Station that a teenager had been arrested on Sunday afternoon following a swift investigation after video footage of the robbery went viral.

18-year-old Anucha Rodudom admitted to being the passenger on the motorbike and snatching a bag from Mr Lau Sai Wei containing 13,000 baht, foreign currency equal to 4,000 baht, and a passport.

The incident took place on Phetchaburi Road in the Ratchathewi area of the city on June 30th.

Many viewers. and the tourist who recorded and uploaded the clip, suggested the tuk tuk driver was involved, however, the acting commander said this was not the case.
