Two Arrested For Assaulting Kuwaiti In Pattaya

Two men have been arrested and charged with assaulting a Kuwaiti man earlier this week on Pattaya beach.

Pongsak Krasip, 33, and Tom Inplueay, 39, were arrested following the drunken attack on with Fahad Alyaqoub in the early hours of Tuesday morning near Soi Pattaya 7.

The two suspects admitted to assaulting the Kuwaiti but denied robbing him and were changed accordingly.

During an interview at the victim’s hotel room with his friend Faisal Alghannam, who fled the scene during the attack, police found him in the company of a 29-year-old Thai woman and taking drugs.

Police found 1g of crystal meth, four methamphetamine pills and two ecstasy pills. The couple were arrested and charged with possession of illegal drugs.

Gold Line October Launch Derailed Until December

The Bangkok Mass Transit System announced today the scheduled October launch of the new 3-station Gold Line will be delayed until December.

The BTS CEO Surapong Laoha-Unya said testing on systems and signalling was ongoing that he was certain all three stations would be ready by the end of the year.

The unexpected news comes after earlier announcements the project was on track for an October launch following 3 months of testing with new Bombardier Innovia APM 300 electric trains that arrived in mid-June.

The 1.8 kilometre long Gold Line will connect with the BTS Silom Line at Krung Thon Buri with Iconsiam (Charoen Nakhon station) and Khlong San making up the total of just 3 stations with 42,000 passengers expected to use the new line each day.

Trips on the unmanned trains will be a flat 15 baht fare.

An extension along Somdet Chao Phraya Road will see Memorial Bridge added as a fourth station and is expected to operational by 2023.

Developer Krungthep Thanakom, the business arm of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, hired Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc – the operators of the BTS Skytrain – to procure trains, operate the service and handle maintenance work in a 30-year contract.

The public-private investment project hasn’t used any public funding as it has been bankrolled by Siam Piwat, the owner and operator of Iconsiam, to the tune of $62 million who kindly donated the line to the city of Bangkok.

Salesman Scoops 48m Baht On Lotto

A car salesman from Chaiyaphum province hit the jackpot yesterday after winning 48 million baht on the national lottery with 8 winning tickets.

36-years-old Paisarn bought the winning tickets the night before from an elderly lottery ticket seller who approached his table at a restaurant but paid little attention to the numbers until the draw was made.

As soon as he realised he’d scooped the jackpot not once, but eight times, with the winning numbers 244083 he headed straight to Chaiyaphum City Police Station to file a report with the police as evidence of his big win.

Paisarn said he will pay off his debts, give his parents a lump sum to thank them for all they have done for him, and take care of the rest of his windfall to safeguard his future.

He hadn’t yet decided if he’d return to work at the Toyota showroom where he’d been selling cars for the past few years.

Without doubt, he will be the provinces most eligible bachelor for the rest of the year.
