Two Bars Ordered Closed In Friday Night Raids

Over 100 police officers, led by Pol Lt Gen Prawut, raided two popular bars located close to Rangsit University in the early hours of Saturday morning and ordered them closed after underage customers were found drinking alcohol and the pubs operating without the correct permits.

The Bungalow and Mor 3/2 bars, in the Muang Ek housing estate in Pathum Than, had a total of 35 customers between them aged below 20 who were reported by Thai media to be mostly university students.

All the underage drinkers had to undergo urine tests for drugs with initial results showing they were all clear.

Pol Lt Gen Prawut said both bars had no permits to operate as nighttime entertainment venues and only had permits to sell alcohol.

He announced their permits had been revoked and they’d been ordered closed and the owners will be charged with various offences relating to underage drinking and operating illegally.
