Three people died and two others injured when a retired policeman opened fire in a Chanthaburi courtroom on Tuesday morning.
The shootout happened just after 9am as a perjury trial related to a 10-year long land dispute was being heard with both rival parties in attendance.
Five people were shot, including the gunman Pol Maj-Gen Thanin Chantharatip, and all rushed to Pokklao Hospital where a 61-year-old lawyer and a 51-year-old man were pronounced dead soon after arrival.
The gunman succumbed to his injuries and died later in the day.
Thai media report the suspect opened fire at the others before he was shot by a court policeman.
