Immigration police arrested an Uzbek woman wanted in her homeland on human trafficking charges at a condo in Bangkok earlier this week.

After eight years hiding out in Thailand, Sayora Melikova, 62, was captured along with three others working as prostitutes at a Rama IX condominium on Tuesday.

At a press conference held on Friday, Pol Lt Gen Sompong Chingduang, chief of the Immigration Police Bureau, told reporters Melikova had fled Uzbekistan in 2011 and was wanted on an Interpol red notice.

The three other women captured at the same time confessed to working as prostitutes and will now be deported along with Ms Melikova.
