A Buriram man was attacked by a wild bear at a rubber farm over the weekend and was lucky to have escaped relatively unhurt after being mauled.
Sukum Hoisang, 38, told Khoasod news the bear jumped out from bushes close to where he was working with his mother and brother when it attacked him.
He was left with a large gash on his leg, several broken bones and had one of his fingers bitten off by the beast that he said was around 1 meter tall and weighed about 100 kilos.
His family rushed to help when they heard him scream startling the bear which ran off into a nearby forest.
Sukum is still recovering in hospital following the attack.
