Woman Dies Following Gun Attack In Tesco Lotus Mall

UPDATED 14.30: On Tuesday evening at around 5pm, a gunman shot his ex-girlfriend and a man in her company at a busy shopping mall in Chumphon before fleeing the scene in a car.

Shoppers at the Tesco Lotus Mall in Wang Pai, Chumphon were left stunned as the gunman first shot at the man before dragging the woman and shooting her twice. She died a short time later at hospital from her injuries.

The gunman, Pol Cpl Norapat, is the chief administrator of Suan Taeng Tambon Administrative Organisation in Lamae district. The woman, who worked as his deputy, has been named as 38-year-old Tada Yangsathit.

Thai media are reporting various versions of how the shooter and the woman were romantically involved, all concluding this was an act of jealousy.

Norapat handed himself into police early on Wednesday morning and has been charged with first degree murder and carrying and firing gun in the public.

The video below is CCTV footage of the shooting. Be warned, it is very graphic.

As more verified details become available in English language media I will update this story accordingly.
