After months of negotiations with The Ambassador Hotel, the Hillary Group have failed in their bid to renew the lease on Climax, with the popular late night Soi 11 club set to close next week.
Despite the owners attempts to find an alternative location during the same period as the negotiations were taking place, a suitable venue couldn’t be found in time.
The final night for Climax on Soi 11 will be Tuesday 25th April and management tell me the farewell party is going to be a big one.
I say “final night for Climax on Soi 11” as the Hillary Group have no plans to throw the towel in and will step up their efforts to find the club a new home.
Word on the street is the hotel have already secured a new tenant for the basement venue, although I can’t confirm this but if what I hear is true, the lights won’t be off for long.
Climax opened its doors back in 2006 and soon became a popular pick up joint as it stayed open until dawn most nights at a time when there were few late night options in the capital.
The Climax recipe for success in my opinion came from their marketing being predominantly aimed at Thai ladies, with discounted / free entry, concerts by popular Thai bands and singers, prize draws with large cash prizes being a few of their ways to draw in the talent.
Where there’s women, the men will soon follow… it isn’t rocket science and it worked well for 11 years.
I’ll have more details on next Tuesday’s farewell party in the next day or two and will share once I have all the info.
