British Deaths & Arrests In Thailand According To The FCO

It’s a slow day around here so I thought I’d share some figures that were released by the UK government some time ago detailing the number of deaths and arrests of its citizens living and holidaying in Thailand.

It is estimated by the FCO there are around 50,000 British expats in Thailand with a further 900,000 trips made annually by its citizens. The total number of consular assistance cases totaled 1,164 for the year up to April 1st 2014, slightly up on 1,141 cases from the previous year.

Between 2011 and 2012 there were 296 British deaths. In the 12 months up to 31 March, 2013 the number of Brits who died in the Kingdom was 389, while in the same period up to the end of March 2014 there were 362 deaths.

It was reported the most common cause of death was natural causes and not suspicious suicides as the masses love to shout from the rooftops at any death of a foreigner they see in the news.

TOP 10 COUNTRIES FOR BRITISH DEATHS ABROAD

Spain – 856
USA – 125
Thailand – 362
France – 346
Greece – 160
United Arab Emirates – 75
Cyprus – 157
Australia – 72
India – 89
Germany – 146

In the year through to 31 March 2014, Thailand also ranked third for Brits abroad being hospitalised with 267 cases. In the same 12 month period there were 29 drug related arrests from a total of 153 people arrested or “detained”. The stats also revealed there were 11 rapes and six serious assaults reported.

Of course, these are the “official” figures and I’m going to go out on a limb and say the only accuracy here is likely to be the number of deaths. The arrests has got to be the most skewed number of all and I’d bet my right leg there are far more rapes and serious assaults that go unreported.

Those admitted to hospital is also laughable at 267. I don’t know anyone who called the embassy the last time spent a few days hooked up to a drip and a few machines when they took unwell.

It would have been far more interesting if the number of deaths was broken down but the boot lickers and ass kissers don’t want us to know how many people were murdered or topped themselves. That just isn’t good for Thai-UK relations.
