Cops Caught On Camera Beating Suspect

Seven officers from Lak Song Police Station in Bangkok have been transferred to inactive posts pending an investigation into video footage of them beating a handcuffed suspect.

The unnamed man, alleged to be high on drugs, was said to be causing a disturbance outside Bun Pradit Temple. When police arrived he resisted arrest.

Once in custody, he is alleged to have lashed out at officers, kicking and spitting on those in the back of the pickup with him on the way to the station.

Smartphone footage taken from a building overlooking the car park at the police station shows the cuffed man being slapped on the face, repeatedly hit with a stick and kicked in the stomach after being hauled out the pickup. He was then dragged into the station.

Pol. Lt Gen.Kampanat Soppodorn, the Commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 9, ordered the transfer and investigation after the video went viral on social media.
