Thai TV Host Dies in Car Crash

A well-known ladyboy TV host and social media influencer died in the early hours of Friday morning after being involved in a car accident in Chiang Mai.

Police and emergency services arrived at the scene on Canal Road at around 8.30pm on Thursday night to find Jaturapat ‘Centimetre’ Khemnark and a male friend trapped in their vehicle that had plunged into the canal after what appeared to be a minor bump.

Thai media report it took rescuers some time to pull the pair from the wreck and both were rushed to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital where Jaturapat was admitted to ICU. The other occupant of the car was pronounced dead on arrival.

A friend of Jaturapat posted on Facebook that despite the best efforts of doctors, she passed away around 5.30am.

CCTV footage of the accident sparked an online debate that is still raging as to who was in the wrong and should the 25-year-old female driver of the other vehicle be charged with manslaughter.

As you can see in the video above, the driver of the black car was on the outside lane with Jaturapat’s car in the inner lane yet she attempted to make a u-turn.

What you cannot see is the outside lane is classed as a “hard shoulder/emergency lane” and has very faded markings in yellow paint to indicate so, although at night these faded lines would be near impossible to see.

The other points of contention were the speed the black vehicle was travelling at and why Jaturapat didn’t slam on the anchors after the bump.

Many questions and opinions, no answers.
